What are the best sites for TOEFL preparation?

Холбоотой Зураг
Every TOEFL preparation website has pros and cons. Depending on your current English level and your target TOEFL score, the best website for TOEFL preparation differs from person to person.
If you are already a very good English speaker, meaning you consider yourself to be very close to a native English speaker, all you need to do is take between 4-6 TOEFL practice tests and get yourself familiarized with the TOEFL formatting and question styles. It might be beneficial for you to get some books or go to some TOEFL learning websites to learn TOEFL strategies, tips, and answer templates. For example, you can use the TOEFL integrated writing template from https://www.bestmytest.com or https://www.toeflresources.com.
But if your English level is not so great, you need to spend a lot of time doing TOEFL-like practice questions and tests, while at the same time enhancing your speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills. There are many websites offering TOEFL practice tests and questions like https://toefl.magoosh.comhttps://www.bestmytest.com, and https://www.testden.com/. However, I would say this: to improve your TOEFL speaking and writing scores, it doesn’t just take practice, you need someone to give you feedback and corrections (especially on writing questions), so keep that in mind while selecting a website for studying TOEFL.
From my experience with TOEFL, I have taken it in the past and am now a TOEFL tutor helping students, here is my take on some of the most popular TOEFL websites I’ve become familiar with.
NOTEFULL - Almost complete TOEFL Preparation course
This is definitely a great website for learning TOEFL tips and strategies. Some of the strategies are free and some of them are only available if you pay. I have a lot of respect for their teachers as their lessons are really helpful and on-point. Their TOEFL programs are a bit complicated, as they have a lot of options. They don’t seem to have TOEFL practice tests, so if you decide to go with Notefull, I suggest you find another website that offers TOEFL practice tests.
TestDEN - Partial TOEFL Preparation course
Like NOTEFULL, this website has been around for at least eight years. They have four TOEFL IBT gaded tests and TOEFL skill trainers. In general, this is a good website. However, their questions seem old and outdated. If you want to get a high score on TOEFL, it’s better to practice new TOEFL questions. For example, TOEFL Speaking Task 1 now has three-choice style questions where you have to choose one out of three options and talk about why you choose that option. This question style didn’t exist a few years ago.
BestMyTest - The most Complete TOEFL preparation course (Preferred by my students)
In my opinion, this website is one of the best TOEFL preparation websites available online. They have over 1500 TOEFL practice questions...though I didn’t actually count how many they have, but they definitely have enough for a complete TOEFL preparation course and their questions are high quality (I did find some questions that seemed too easy or a lot more difficult compared to TOEFL, but only a few). They also have TOEFL lessons (decent lessons, videos, and tips in there), TOEFL interactive vocabulary exercises/flashcards, and TOEFL practice tests. What I like most about them is that their subscriptions come with speaking and writing reviews (Their reviews consist of a TOEFL score and detailed feedback for improvement) and essay Grammar corrections. Overall, many of my students use this website and think it is extremely helpful and is the most comprehensive TOEFL preparation website available online. The only con I found is their prices are slightly higher compared to other TOEFL preparation websites that don’t offer speaking and writing reviews, but the pricing is still very affordable, especially considering how many reviews you get.
PrepScholar - Complete TOEFL preparation course
I found this website through their blogs and they have some great tips and free resources on their blogs. This online TOEFL program is a bit similar to the one on Bestmytest in terms of quantity of TOEFL materials as they also have a lot of questions, practice tests, and lessons. Their pricing seems high and their cheapest package doesn't come with speaking/writing grading and feedback. Overall, I think this is a good website for TOEFL studying, but due to the fact that neither I nor my students have used them, I can’t give a fair full review on this one.
Magoosh Online TOEFL Preparation - Complete TOEFL preparation course
This is a very popular website from what I can tell. They have many test prep courses such as GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, etc. I have used their TOEFL prep course before. They have 500 TOEFL practice questions and explanation videos. They seem pretty proud of their explanation videos as it is very rare to see TOEFL websites offering explanation videos for all questions (though you probably don’t need all of them :) ). There are many great things about this TOEFL prep website: their practice questions are high-quality, their explanation videos are good, and their pricing is affordable. The cons are there are no speaking and writing reviews and not enough practice questions and materials for students at the beginner and intermediate levels. Overall, I see this website as a great TOEFL preparation website for high-level English speakers.
TOEFL Resources - Partial TOEFL preparation course
The teacher behind this website is a great and passionate TOEFL teacher. He gives out great writing templates, as well as speaking tips and strategies. You can watch his videos on Youtube, and look at his sample essays on the website (unfortunately, there are only 20-30 sample essays). As a teacher, I have used a lot of great tips from him and often recommend my students watch his TOEFL videos.
Like TOEFL Resources, this website was also founded by a great and passionate TOEFL teacher. His course seems very systematic. It has pronunciation diagnostic tests and speaking and writing review services. His blog has a lot of successful stories of how he helped students pass TOEFL, so if you thrive on online TOEFL tutoring and your budget is deep, then this might be a good choice. However, if you decide to sign up for his course, I would still recommend you find another website that comes with enough TOEFL practice. After all, practice makes perfect.
